i am a writer and counselor from east london, living in brooklyn, new york. i am interested in body hair, madness and race. i study the impact of microaggressions on the psyche of queer black and brown people. for a summary of my ideas about these things, click here, and for an interview i gave to kajal magazine, click here. this is for everyone who googled "why is my bum hairy" when they were 15.
other favourite activities include dancing, pretending to understand astrology and eating in my bedroom with the door closed.
my written work has appeared in buzzfeed, galdem, the guardian, the independent, black girl dangerous, media diversified & open democracy. my article, staying alive through brexit: racism, mental health & emotional labour was published in an anthology of essays by british muslim writers called 'the things i would tell you' in april 2017 (saqi books). in may 2017, my personal essay, white women drive me crazy was published by buzzfeed and lots of people read it. i am currently writing a book while working full time as a mental health counselor.
